Today, we are happy to announce that the Hulu Plus subscription service is available on select LG LCD TVs. The team here is particularly excited about this launch because we have added support for the innovative LG Magic Motion remote. Now you can control the Hulu Plus application with a simple point-and-click. We are going to be launching Hulu Plus on other LG devices in the coming weeks, so be sure to check out our devices page to stay up to date.
Hulu is fine wirelssy on my ROKU, on the other side of the house, far away from the router. I tried the suggestion about changing my wireless channel, but get the same thing. And it happens wired as well. The problem is definitely the Hulu app on the LG BD670. Seriously – is anyone who can do something about it going to address the problem?
I am reading all these problems with Hulu, It isnt HULU. It turns out that your internet connection/network/wireless network and the signal from such is a bigger reason you are getting jitter or freezing. Try changing the channel your network broadcasts on and you will probably find that you are not as discussed with Hulu as you are now. Look at all the network channels being broadcast in your networks area and change it to one that isnt being used. Usually by default everyones network is broadcasting on Channel 11 of your network.
It does NOT work with LG Tvs, I have a 42lv5400, it freezes almost every time after commercials in the loading screen… Other than that it plays flawlessly but the loading screen is always the problem. Please fix this.
I have the same problems listed above. I purchased a LG BD670 blu-ray because it has HULU Plus however won’t stream consistently. I will be canceling the subscription before the free trial is over.
Same problems here. I was excited to try Hulu plus on my LG BD670 blu-ray and found it won’t load. I’ll be canceling the subscription before the free trial is even over! Very disappointed as this is my first experience with Hulu.
I too got an LG670 around Christmas, and am in the midst of a free trial of Hulu plus. When it works its great, and the picture is even better than Netflix. Sadly it is not consistent. Like others have noted, it often hangs when loading a program or clip, and sometimes won’t load at all. I also see no way to see my queue or favorites within the app, there appears to be no search feature, nor can I browse by genre. To find a program or movie one seemingly has to go click next through countless choices to finally arrive at the wanted one. I hope it all gets worked out, but right now I’m not sure its worth the hassle to continue past the free trial.
I have a Lg tv LE5400 and BluRay player BD550 and neither one of them have HuluPlus. I understand that Lg is just as much to blame with us not having the service as Hulu is. I suggest that everyone contact Lg, either by phone or email, as I did, to let them know our frustration with this. If Lg hears from enough of us with the specific models, just maybe they will move forward with getting HuluPlus to all of us. Just a thought.
Same problems here. We were excited to try Hulu plus on our LG BD670 blu-ray and found it won’t load. We’ll be canceling our subscription before the free trial is even over! Very disappointed as this is my first experience with Hulu.
I gave my husband a blue ray player for Christmas and picked LG 670 because it could stream Hulu. It takes too long to load and gets hung up and doesn’t work right. We enjoy the content on Hulu+, but Netflix is much less trouble to watch. PLEASE fix the app for LG Blueray 670 so the streaming is smooth and it doesn’t take forever to load or freeze up.
I have a new LG BD670 bluray player. The problems I am having are not unlike those that others are experiencing. Shows get stuck at the beginning when loading the commercials and never play or will begin to play but are caught in a loop of playing for 15 seconds and pause to load for around 30. Also, if for some reason the show works (which is a rarity) the load time for the commercials is often longer than the commercials themselves. I have been using Hulu for over a year on my Xbox and experienced little to no issues using this app. This initially led me to believe the obvious fault was with the new hardware, however I have had no problems with Netflix, YouTube and most importantly with streaming full 1080p movies watching Vudu’s HDX content. Additionally Vudu provides a service of scanning your systems network capabilities to ensure your satisfaction and my system consistently maxes out at the greater than 9mbps mark. So with my system passing this test as well as flawlessly streaming video from multiple other vendors I feel I can logically conclude Hulu’s app for the LG BD670 is flawed. I am canceling my subscription until I have been made confident that this problem has been resolved.
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having while trying to watch on your Blu-ray player. If it’s not too much more trouble, can you drop us a line at (www.hulu.com/support) with more details about the issues you’re seeing?
I purchased a BD670 with HuluPlus 1 week ago. Hulu often (80-90% of the time) gets stuck on “loading” a TV show and will not play. Also if you browse TV episodes too much the system will hang. You probably have a memory leak in your app. Netflix works fine.
Just got the BD670 and it has the Hulu Plus app but when I try to view the demo videos they either play with huge interruptions and skipping, or don’t play at all and just show a “loading” bar. Navigation in the app is also very slow/laggy. For comparison both netflix and amazon video are working just fine on the same player.
I echo the comment regarding LG Bluray BD640. I’d really like to know if you ever intend on making Hulu Plus available for the LG Blu-Ray player BD640. What is the likelihood that you will make it available on this system? What are the future plans for this system? I am so disappointed that I cannot watch HULU Plus on Netcast. I bought it in July 2011 and Hulu plus indicated that all 2011 LG Blu ray models would have HULU Plus. Are you specifically working on this?
Thanks for posting. I’m really sorry that we don’t currently support your model Blu-ray player. Ideally, we’d want Hulu Plus on as many devices as possible, so we’ll keep working with LG to add your model. What I can suggest in the meantime is to keep an eye on our supported devices page ( hulu.com/plus/devices ) for any updates to new LG models we might be supporting in the future. Again, I’m sorry for the inconvenience but I hope this information helps!
I recently bought a LG BD640 that was made in July 2011. I wish at the time I knew that it hadnt come with hulu plus. I recently signed up for hulu but truly see no point in keeping your service if my device isnt going to be updated. I do watch it on my computer but I would prefer to use the blu ray player I bought. Please notify me if possible if this model will be updated. I will be cancelling my subscription at the end of the month if I still cant get updated. Thank you.
Hulu Plus constantly crashes on the LG BluRay player I bought. I’m not able to watch shows 90% of the time without having to restart the system. Really disappointed with both LG and Hulu
I am irritated that my 1 year old TV that I paid extra money for just so it had the built in features such as Netflix and Vudu seems to be cast aside for their new Smart TV. Certainly Hulu Plus can be added to the NetCast TVs.
I have signed up for Hulu Plus and watch it through my computer. However, I would love to be able to watch it through my LG BluRay player. The model is BD640 and was manufactured January 2011. Do you know of any plans to add those devices to be able to stream your content?
Hulu is really killing themselves. I can not use my $400 LG to get Hulu?
Stupid! Most people I know can not get the service.
How do you expect to get customers if no one can get to your service?
Thanks for your email, and thanks for your interest in Hulu Plus! I’m afraid I haven’t any specifics to offer regarding timeframes or upcoming models. Of course, we want to support as many devices as possible and I hope we can offer you support on these devices soon!
I’m sorry that we don’t offer support for your your LG Blu-ray BD570 just yet. We want to make Hulu Plus available on every device imaginable – but in order to do that, we need to obtain a specific set of streaming rights for each device, and we need agreements in place with both our content owners and the hardware manufacturers.
We’re working towards that goal, and while I don’t have any information about if or when your device will be supported, I suggest keeping an eye on our list of supported devices at ( http://www.hulu.com/plus/devices ).
Yesterday I subscribed to Hulu Plus hoping to watch it through my Bluray LG BD570, which works amazingly with Netflix and Youtube.
You do not support the BD570 yet? I’m sorry, I am canceling my subscription now.
I want to second the sentiment of adding Hulu to the BD550 device. Netflix is nice, but it appears to be imploding right now. I don’t count myself amongst those angry with Netflix because I’d quit my home delivery service long before they announced the price hikes and separation of the two services. My problem with Netflix is you can’t watch current content.
I know there are licensing issues, but if you could make a concerted effort to resolve them; it would be wonderful. I can tell you I am not shelling out money for another blu-ray device, when I haven’t had this one a full year.
Please add support for LG BD570. I watch Netflix all the time on it and would love to be able to access my Hulu+ account as well. I won’t shell out more $$ on another player just to access your service.
Hulu – I’ve been hoping for months that Hulu PLUS would be added to the LG BD-570. With Netflix in turmoil, NOW is the time to increase access to increase share. If the BD-570 was supported, I’d drop Netflix and sign up for PLUS today. If you want to increase your customer base, there is no good reason to force them to buy a new device. I can’t justify spending another $200 on a BD player when this one works perfectly fine. Sorry Hulu, but maybe we just weren’t meant to be.
over 600,000 people recently left Netflix, and you guys don’t have the availability for those customers with Blu-ray players by LG to switch over ? what a mind job.
Need Hulu Plus on LG-BD570. Folks are not going to buy a new $200 player just to get Hulu Plus. You are missing out on a big set of customers who have bought into the LG 500 series and can be potential customers. Streaming is going to take over blu-ray rentals…
I understand you have licensing issues with LG BD500 series…but you need to re-evaluate that. Because once streaming becomes king, people won’t buy expensive LG Blu-ray players and just get a simple streaming device and Hulu’s investment in LG products will be of little value.
Capitalize on the market of people who already have decent streaming LG players!
The fact that folks (including myself) bought a tv hoping to have advertised
online capability, only to find out that the company is too sorry to support
these devices is a bunch of crap. I will not buy another LG tv or anything else.
I’m sorry for the trouble our application’s giving you. I recommend getting in touch with us at http://hulu.com/support so we can help troubleshoot and get things running properly again.
I have an LG BD 670, purchased about a month ago, before HULU Plus was on it. It updated one day, and HULU plus was available, and I signed up and am now being charged on my CC. HULU Plus worked for a while, although frequently paused for “loading”. Now, it just spins on loading after a selection is made and the video never loads. No problem with Netflix which is also on the BD 670. What’s up? I feel like canceling my subscription, because it doesn’t work, but I really want the service. I don’t have cable. Internet streaming through the BD 670 only, or a notebook if I have to.
It’s true, we don’t have any plans to support 2010 models at this time, but we’re always evaluating what devices we can get on. The technological and licensing aspects of supporting models are complex and in this case we weren’t able to support those older models at this time, but that doesn’t mean things couldn’t change in the future.
LG recently posted an update for the BD570. I was sure it would be for HULU-Plus. Sadly it was not. I could not see what the update was for. Can we expect HULU on the next update?
I have two LG Blu-ray players and would subscribe to your service if I could use it on them… any news on updates? A schedule for rolling out to BD players?
Pretty much really upset with Hulu, got an email saying they pretty much dont intend to support last years LG Blu-Ray models even though they are netcast equipped, and vudu, divxtv , netflix, all made it work?? whats the deal.
Thanks for your post. Unfortunately I don’t have a list of the supported Blu-Ray models at this time, but I’ll work on getting that live as soon as we can.
The LG 47LE5400 won’t be supported at launch, but we’d like to support as many devices as possible, so there’s always a possibility it will be added at a later date.
Hey, I have an LG BD670 blu ray player where the Hulu Plus icon newly shows but doesn’t work. I realize that this is probably an LG thing, but PLEASE HELP!!!
I just bought aLG-ST600 SmartTV Upgrader in hopes of watching HuluPlus rather than Netflix only to find Flashplayer 10.03 is required and Hulu content can’t be watched. I, like Keith, would like to know ifLG-ST600 SmartTV Upgrader be supported in the near future.
Only thing keeping from ditching cable is that it is not available on the Tab 10.1. I know several people in the same boat that already use Hulu for free and would gladly upgrade to get it on their Honeycomb tablets as well.
Come on Hulu – help us out and get with the program!!

We’ve always said our mission is to provide the world’s premium content to people when, how and where they want it. And we know that a lot of people want that content on their Android smartphones. We’ve been working hard to make that a reality, and today, we have begun our early rollout of the Hulu Plus application on Android smartphones.
With the first phase of the Android rollout, Hulu Plus is available on six phones, including the Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, and the Motorola Atrix. We expect to add to the number of Android smartphones and will be making additional device announcements throughout the year.
The free Hulu Plus app is available for download from Android Market, and once installed, Hulu Plus subscribers will be able to enjoy the service on the go. As always, Hulu Plus offers new subscribers one free week to try the service.
No offense but its total BS that you have been designing the app for the HTC and “Droid” based phones and ignoring the Samsung products. There is even some serious irony in this decision because no one can argue that Samsung phones have better screens via the Super AMOLED technology (even better in many regards than the iPhone screeens). Not just a little better, but by a wide margin. So basically you designed an app to watch Hulu on the absolute most pixelated and washed out screens available on the android platform. Good thinking guys…congrats on that.
Its sad that you still don’t support any current Android 3.x tablets. Its funny that you support the HTC flyer that just came out but no 10″ tablets. Why would I want to watch TV on a phone when I have an Asus Transformer. Sad.
To get a list of the particular devices that have Hulu Plus support, you can visit ( http://www.hulu.com/plus/devices ). There you will see what currently brings the ability to stream Hulu Plus, and also which devices may be coming soon. If you have any specific questions on any device in particular, you can reach out to our support team at ( http://www.hulu.com/support ).
We are looking at getting a device to hook up to our tv for internet since we watch at least half of our shows on Hulu+. Can you list all of the current devices Hulu+ is compatible with so we know which tablet or program to buy?
Because Android phones each have a different set of specifications that we need to take into account, we’re only able to support a select number of them at this point in time. We’ll be expanding Android support as quickly as we can though!
So I was so pumped to download hulu plus on my phone to then find out that my phone can’t do it..i have the dorid increable and yea..no hulu plus. this sucks…at least i have netflix.
Interesting, that by the time Hulu releases the app as “Compatible” the phone is almost already out of date…. Yet some standards, like the Motorola Xoom. (One of the first major Android Tablets) still isn’t on the list.
I think what I, and a lot of people with half a brain, are wondering is “How can Netflix, do it but Hulu Can’t?” They have the same “TV vs. Computer” issues, yet they seem to be able to create a client for android.
Perhaps, if you’d stop listening to the Apple Marketing engine, you’d realize you are alienating a huge customer segment. I obviously am not a paying customer, as Hulu is not available for all my devices.
I’d rather not compromise for outdated hardware (like an iPhone/iPad/iPod) in order to use a PAY service on top of that costs.
Really, Hulu+ + Wifi Internet Fees/Data Plan + Cost of hardware = It’s just not worth it.
I was very disappointed to find out that my new birthday gift, the Samsung Galaxy Tab wasn’t among the devices that Hulu will play on! When I was researching which tablet I wanted I went to Hulu (that was actually one of the main reason I started paying for Hulu) and saw that Android tablets were supported, then when I tried to download the app I am told that my device is not supported…Happy Birthday to me, NOT!
You know — your “support” staff is quick to jump on anybody that mentions wanting their service for free but they remain completely silent and offer NO explanations for those of us that pay monthly and want to watch on our tablets. I do pay. When are you planning to unblock service on tablets? I watch hulu on my EVO so why do I have to constantly hack my ASUS Transformer to use the service I paid for??? Let me guess — you’re not going to offer an explanation. Kind of the same way I’m not going to offer to pay my bill next month. I’m frustrated and pretty over it.
I watch movies and TV shows on my phone a lot. I’m waiting to subscribe to Hulu Plus when it’s available for Galaxy S phones (specifically the Epic 4G). Until then at least I have Netflix.
Unfortunately—to honor the deals we have in place for our content—we have to stream to mobile devices through our app. I completely understand your frustration regarding this. As I’m sure you’re aware, the Android platform has many different incarnations and can be installed on a variety of devices. While we want to offer our app on as many devices as possible, we also want to provide a quality experience for our users. We appreciate your patience and we will make it worth the wait.
It’s not about getting something for free, it’s about not restricting access to subscription services which we pay for (HULU Plus) on any capable device such as the Galaxy 10.1 tablet which support it natively. I pay for HULU Plus yet I’ve had to HACK my Galaxy 10.1 just to get the content for which I pay HULU and would play right out of the box if not for your restrictions.
Please explain why HULU developed and published a HULU Plus app for iOS (iphone, ipad) due to @pple’s refusal to support FLASH yet restricts access to the paid subscribers using the only relevant @pple competing platform which supports it natively.
I’ve been waiting 6 months for hulu plus to come out on my galaxy. Netflix hasn’t had any problem with it as well as hbogo, and many others. Get your priorities straight, forget about criterion collection commercials, GIVE ME SOME MOBILE TV!!!!
C’mon Hulu time to step up the adult table and get cranking this limited release of a few phones whenever you feel like it is boring me and others there is now reason for it I canceled my account because of you lack up support for me devices I mean serious the Evo 4g but not the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7″ and how long till you plan on supporting the Motorola Photon???? Get off your butts andget in the game also nice job not formatting your blog for mobile devices
You raise a great point, and I’m sorry you are disappointed you can’t access Hulu on your device for free. I know it’s frustrating to have to pay for services you believe should be free. I’d love to speak to the issue.
When we launched the free Hulu.com service, our rights were limited to streaming on the PC. Unfortunately, mobile and TV devices were not included in these contracts, and in order to add them, we’ve had to do so under a paid service, Hulu Plus. This is for many reasons, including the high price of these types of streaming rights and because many shows required they be part of a paid service to be on these types of devices.
We shouldn’t have to pay to get hulu plus on our phones if we can get regular hulu free on a computer. The only reason I even bought a smart phone is because I’ve been having trouble with my computer speakers, and the sales people told me I could watch tv on my phone. Lo and behold, no regular hulu, and no hulu plus. (Not that I would pay for it anyways.)
PLEASE get linked up with the incerdiable 1 please!!!!! you all have support fopr the 2nd model but not the first??????? hook us up hulu. Or im ganna have to cancell my account:( i got it to watch on my phone and now i cant.
Although I have nothing to announce at this time, do know that our developers are working to support more Android products in the future. Currently we’re on 20 Android devices, and we do expect this number to increase over time. My best advice is to keep an eye out on the devices page (hulu.com/plus/devices) for any new information about support for new Android devices in the future.
Because of the intention for use of Google TV with a TV set, it qualifies as a television device and therefore a different set of streaming rights and contract restrictions. While we have not announced plans at this time, we get a lot of requests for it, so it’s definitely on our radar. Specifically, we’d love to add it as a supported device for Hulu Plus, so keep an eye out for that.
Just bought the Galaxy S2… Still no Hulu plus??? So now I have one of the most advanced phones on the market and can’t watch my Hulu Plus subcription???
Come on Hulu, when are we going to see the support for the new phones???
I can’t believe that it hasn’t been addressed already, give us a date for full support, it’s really not as hard as you are pretending, just put some effort into it…
No official word on Galaxy S support just yet. We’re working on expanding Android support to more phones and tablets, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see support for the Galaxy S in the future.
When are you going to have Hulu for the Samsung Galaxy S phone? I have many friends with this phone and we are eagerly awaiting the addition of it to your list. Is there a timeframe we can expect this so we can sign up for Hulu Plus?
Why won’t they make an app for my android tablet? The whole reason i subscribed as to use it on my tablet. If it doesnt come out soon or within the next month im cancelling my subscription…same goes for netflix….
I just purchased a Samsung infuse. I was very surprised to learn i can’t get hulu and extremely disappointed. At&t however, does offer Mobil tv. I guess ill cancel my hulu subscription and go with at&t. Your loss hulu!
It has nothing to do with making Hulu work on different types of phone and tablets. All of the phones and tablets support Hulu just like PC’s and Macs already do. Hulu just chooses to specifically block certain devices and its picking certain android devices to allow. But it has nothing to do with them making it work it has worked for a long time they just block it.
I’ve been a hulu plus subscriber for quite some time. I recently purchased a samsung galaxy 10.1 tablet specifically for viewing hulu+ programming. Hulu better get it sorted out very soon… or i’m gone for good.
Ok Hulu let me help you with your game plan. You have two different types of mobile devices that carriers are currently supporting; tablets/pads and phones. You need to talk to the carriers; ATT, TMO, Sprint and VZW of the world and ask them what the three highest selling andriod phones are at this time. Ditto for tablets/pad. Then you get with your Dev team and get in the carrier labs to get this app completed and rolled out. It’s not rocket science. Your killing you company by not having this app for andriod tablets.
ipad or galaxy tab? I specifically wanted to watch Hulu in bed – so I chose the Galaxy Tab 10.1 since it had flash support. Oh, Hulu is blocking it on mobile devices. Fine, I’ll pay for Plus. Oh, it’s only supported on certain phone versions of android. ಠ_ಠ
ok hulu as for me there is no doubt that you guys have the best programs and networks,”try to include tbs” but whats up with the androids, you told us “soon” and “wait” i just think the waitings been long because doing this via app on the cellphones is not the same as you would see the contents or programs on the pc or tv. Still i think once you get through this bump you’ll be A.O.K.
Have EVO 4G been waiting for ever for this app for what seems like forever. And you drop the ball like this. Might have to cancel service just sad. Also tablet support is a must. Have HBOgo. Don’t know if I need much more.
I have been waiting for months for this silly little app to come out for the Android phones and they decide to have the app only work on some Android phones. I mean, I just got the Samsung Charge from Verizon…..wtf?
It’s amazing how enough is never enough for some people! Wow! Thanks HULU for working on getting this to the phones. I do wish we did not have to have an app but whatever works!
No Evo! ? Come on Hulu doesn’t it make sense to include one of THE most popular Android phones? I second the comment above. Offline viewing would be awesome!
It makes sense that they’d support older Android phones first. Also because all the phones are not identical, they can’t just write it once and make it work properly because of all the concern hollywood has over copy protection. Its not Hulu’s fault. Its simple for Iphones, because there are so few variations….Motorola Xoom, how many people actually have that compared to Nexus One? a lot less!
No luck on G2, too bad. I will probably not go past the 7 days and just look around to your competitors. Someone who commands a huge salary sucks at their job. That is how this happens. Sigh.

Hey I was just wondering what the deal is with bothering with an app? Seems like it would be so much simpler to just let android users who have a Hulu Plus subscription to log in(by-passing the mobile blocker) and view it via the browser. I know the trendy thing now a-days is to “have an app for that” but be practical and go the “web app” route. Then you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues among multiple devices and could continue delivering via Flash.
…AGREED. This is rediculous. I pay for something that I can not use on something I use or have with me 90% of the time. Epic Fail. If Evo is not supported with in the next month OR if I can not log on simply using my huluplus on the browser within the next month I will cancel my subscription and encourage everyone else that I know who pays for huluplus to do the same.
Just one more Evo owner scratching his head trying to figure out why my phone wasn’t in the initial rollout. Hey, it’s OK, you screwed up. All will be forgiven, if you fix it…fast!!!
Have been thinking of getting hulu plus for at home but will wait now until hulu plus supports the HTC Evo series… Just subscribed to Netflix since the new OTA update of Gingerbread supports Netflix again. You are missing the boat Hulu…
No HTC Evo? Get with it Hulu! You already have my money! Give me my app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remind me again why we can’t just watch Hulu through our flash enabled browsers? I’d actually buy a Hulu plus subscription if you just allowed us to access the content through our mobile browsers. I’m holding on to my money till then..
Please, provide a single reason not supporting the hotest two phones on the market, Samsung S2 and HTC Sensation? Why start with support for old phones people don’t use anymore?
You completly missed the boat on this launch. You’ve waited to long to release an app at all, even netflix beat you to the punch. Then when you release it you dont support the biggest selling phone on the Sprint Network the Evo4g. Yet there are sprint ads all over your site.
I honestly dont get why you didnt support at a minimum the phones that netflix has support for. Its obvious the DRM issues can be overcome with those phones. As for the first wave of rollouts if you take forever to roll out interest will go elsewhere now that the wait for instant content is over with the other sources available.
Android kicks ass! On what other phone can you switch out roms and operating systems, play with themes etc. To heck with Hulu. I have an HTC HD2, wiped Winmo which I hated, installed Cyanogen mod Android OS and a working version of Netflix – works super good like HD quality!
NOT working on Nexus S although you state that it does. When I go to the android market it, it says that Hulu is incompatible with my device Nexus S…..
Android is not like iOS. Android is used as a starting point for other companies to tweak and change. Android on one phone does not equal Android on another phone. Android = Fragmentation, folks.
I should have tried this before commenting. I’ve done so — and it worked great. I’ve only tried it on my WLAN, not on 3G. After selecting a video, the interface to play it is just what I see in Hulu on my Tivo Premier. Video was a little jerky/pixellated at first, presumably during buffering, but then it smoothed out.
After checking out a few minutes, we actually watched the program via Tivo. No substitute for a big screen if 2+ people want to view together. (Well, I could use HDMI from the Droid, but the Tivo makes that unnecessary.)
Like Jason said above, I own a Droid X with all the latest Android update (gingerbread) yet I can’t install the Hulu Plus App from the Android Market because it says under the Install link that My device, The Verizon Droid X is not supported. it it is listed as being supported in the description. Plus my Droid X can not event find the App throughout the Market on the phone itself, only through a browser Any ideas?
I have been paying for hulu plus cant believe it won work on galaxy tab 10.1 or any android tablet. I have the samsung infuse 4g atleast support that. You guys are breaking my balls. I have netflix also so whoever supports my devixes first the other is out the door
I’ve been looking for this for a while, and Eureka! my Droid X is supported. But during that wait Hulu became available on my Tivo Premier, where we use it a lot. Now I don’t know how much use I’ll get out of it on the Droid…but then, I’m already paying for the service, so this is gravy.
[...] the app, right? Well, here is the list of phones that currently support the application with Hulu promising support for additional devices later on this [...]
Serious Question: Why are you OK with people watcing your free content on a 10″ windows pc but not a 10″ Android pc? Could I watch on Linux? What if someone installed Windows 7 on a device with a 4″ screen?
Why arbitrarily block 3 or 4 operating systems from your free content?
Seriously? Did you not learn anything from Netflix? There are so many tablets now – you did not hit 1. You catered to a few phones that will be gone in 6 months. An app should work cross-platform. You CAN rely on flash inside of the application (which likely has your DRM component). Why in the world continue to wait for it on the processor level and piss everyone else in the world off? This is simply ridiculous.
I have a Droid X and just tried to install… it says my device is not supported. That seems to contradict this very post saying the X is one of the only 6 supported devices.
Great it’s on my nexus one, is there a rough timeframe when it’ll be on other devices? (or at least let it be unprotected as we still need to log in anyway to use it, and can try it on non-official devices).
This is great! I’d love to see an option for saving episodes for offline viewing: generally, when I’m interested in watching TV on my phone, I’m offline (on an airplane, in a subway, etc…). Thanks!

I love delivering good news. And because of our world-class builders here at Hulu, I’m lucky I get to do it often. We’re obsessed with our goal to get Hulu Plus on every Internet-connected device out there. And I’m pleased to announce that today we just got another step closer.
Today, the Hulu Plus™ subscription service is now available on TiVo Premiere retail boxes. This means that TiVo Premiere users have access to thousands of hours of Hulu Plus content through a separate subscription fee of $7.99 per month. It’s now possible to check out a hit TV show you just heard about, catch up on a series you may have missed, watch every episode of many popular shows currently on air, uncover old favorites, and discover high-quality movies and documentaries. We’re excited to be a part of TiVo’s one-box solution to bring the world’s premium content to you.
In celebration, TiVo is offering a 6-month free trial to those who purchase a TiVo Premiere from a retailer or Tivo.com. This offer starts today and runs until August 30, 2011. And TiVo subscribers who already subscribe to Hulu Plus can begin accessing their account with no additional charges.
Here’s a video to show you how to get started:
We’re expanding access to Hulu Plus on the TV, one device at a time. Until next time, enjoy watching Hulu Plus on your TiVo Premiere.
Yes, Hulu Plus streams HD content at 720p, but there is some content not streamed in HD since it wasn’t shot or transfered to HD. Also, if your bandwidth is not strong enough to support seamless HD streaming, then a lower quality may be necessary.
I don’t have a Hulu account yet but I’m checking Hulu out to see if I like it. I just tried playing a movie on my TiVo, but it came thru in SD. Is there HD content? Also is it in 5.3?
I’m sorry that not all content is currently available for TiVo streaming. I know it’s frustrating when you can’t watch the content you want in the way you want to watch it. It is our goal to make all of our content available for devices, but it will take some time and cooperation before this becomes a reality. When we launched the free Hulu.com service, our rights were limited to streaming on the PC. With Hulu Plus, we are now able to offer much – but admittedly not all – of that content on PCs, tablets, phones and TVs, and in HD when available.
Unfortunately, due to content rights issues, we are not able to include all of the content you find on the free Hulu.com service on devices, so you’ll find that the content available on our website is different from that offered on the Hulu app for your iPhone, iPad or TV. Obtaining the streaming rights for these devices requires a lot of hard work and these negotiations take time.
Before we launched Hulu Plus, we wanted to be sure we had a robust offering of content available for subscribers. Today, Hulu Plus includes hundreds of shows, some of which haven’t been available online before, and full runs of many of them. The full list is available at ( http://www.hulu.com/plus/content ). Still, we understand it’s disappointing when you can’t access some of your favorite shows on devices. Please know that we are working diligently to include as much content as possible in Hulu Plus so you can enjoy more of your favorite shows where and when you want, and we’re confident the offering will improve over time.
I do have a couple more tips. When browsing or searching on hulu.com, you may see “h+” stickers next to the titles of a portion of our videos, when you see this hold your mouse over the title to see what devices the video is available on. You can also click a “Hulu Plus” check-box near the top of search and browse pages to limit the view to just these items. You can also sign up for notifications for when shows are added to Hulu Plus (and with it, device availability). Do so by going to the show page and clicking the “request to be notified” button found below the big promotional images in the availability notes.
I just brought home a new Tivo Premiere to replace a Comcast DVR (the new GUI reeks) and it was supposed to have the 6 months free. Darned if I can figure out how to make it work. It keeps offering me a free week instead. If you’re going to offer this, you should at least make it happen when people take you up on it.
3 days after the Big Announcement and I still don’t have it. It’s all in managing expectations. Don’t post something saying “Hulu Plus Now Available on TiVo Premiere” if it’s not available to everyone.
Tivo is a great product! They have battled the cable companies for years, setting standards and paving the way for all other dvrs. Cable companies cripple cable cards, and some set higher digital rights in order to cripple multi room viewing all to fight tivo innovation. Tivo went for internet content and now some cable companies limit internet and throttle connections. Tivo has done a great job! I for one have great respect and loyalty for all tivo products, and plan to continue that support. More support means more that tivo can do for all it’s customers! Better products, more content. I believe they have earned that support, with all they do, and continue to do.
agree with comments (and disappointed HULU not answering the upgrade question) Don’t announce as big deal until you have your s**t together. HULU is a choice. We won’t always choose it if you don’t improve and use some common sense when it comes to customer relations.
“In celebration, TiVo is offering a 6-month free trial to those who purchase a TiVo Premiere from a retailer or Tivo.com.”
You may wish to check with Tivo on that one. According to the email response to this question that I received this morning, only direct purchases get the deal. Just another reason to be disappointed.
come on guys. Tivo is pretty good about this sort of thing. I have a premiere i just bought because hulu plus will be on it. Now people are bitching that the standard software rolling upgrade hasn’t hit them yet? If every tivo in the us hit their upgrade server at the same time… sigh. I just hope that upgrade also adds a real search to the netflix app. And i don’t hear anyone bitching that netflix is $8 a month! I guess that should be free too? I dont know why people are hating on tivo for no innovation. Really, I have two of them and i transfer hd shows back and forth and to and from my pcs. If you show me a single other cable box that records suggestions or lets you back up your shows, or even lets you upgrade the drive size, i’ll call you a friggin liar.
Awesome business practice, announcing that a feature is available NOW and then burying the fact that it won’t actually be available for a week (or is it two, I lose track) in a comment on your blog. Just so you know, the word “now” generally means “at this present time” not “a week in the future.”
I’m sorry you’re not seeing Hulu Plus on your TiVo device. TiVo is releasing on Hulu Plus in what we refer to as a rolling launch. TiVo users will gain the ability to get Hulu Plus over the next week slowly. So some users will get it one day, then others on another, and so forth. By the end of the week you should have Hulu Plus on your TiVo Premiere.
If you aren’t able to update by Friday, please let us know and we’d be happy to help further at http://bit.ly/HuluHelp .
HULU, are you even paying attention to the comments on this thread? PLEASE tell us why for many, many people–including myself–HULU isn’t showing up in our TiVo Central. I saw that firmware version 14.8 is needed. I have version 14.7, yet every attempt to upgrade the firmware according to instructions online will not work. None of my friends with TiVo Premieres who have an interest in HULU+ can see it either, and clearly a lot of other people have this problem, judging by the online commentary.
And don’t push this off onto TiVo. If you’re coordinating with them and making a big announcement about how the service is now available, you have to get it right. I signed up for the free one-month trial yesterday before learning that it wasn’t even on my own TiVo yet. As they say, fool me once, shame on YOU. So I’m now wondering if I’ll get to enjoy ANY of that free month when it isn’t even on my TiVo yet.
And let me add my concurrence to the person above who said it’s a little insulting that new TiVo owners would get such a better deal. I understand how marketing works–you want new buyers and customers–but it is also pretty stupid marketing to alienate existing TiVo owners and potential HULU+ subscribers. I’ve also been a loyal TiVo customer for about a decade, so the delay from September to May was pretty discouraging, and yesterday’s faux-rollout only adds insult to injury.
Why is it not showing up? I wanted to try it for the month trial, but its not showing up. I went through the correct link to sign up, restarted my box and am reconnecting the box.
As someone who is responsible for helping keep TiVo afloat for 10+ years, I’m a little insulted that this is for new buyers only. So count three losses with this move:
1) No added subscription fees for me to Tivo for Hulu
2) Another notch in my reasons to jump ship when a viable competitor comes along
and (maybe most importantly to Hulu), 3), no chance I’m giving you any money for a new and unproven service through a historically shaky vendor like TiVo. Not sure if you’ve noticed, but TiVo is not the forerunner of ingenuity and well-executed product rollouts….
Regardless, sorry Hulu, bad PR move and no money from a long time customer of Tivo.
Will you be releasing regular Hulu for the TiVo? I can’t justify a subscription just to add a feature to my TiVo. You do realize that, if you added regular Hulu, you would basically be adding the only advertisements to a TiVo that can’t be skipped, and therefore would probably make a good amount of money?
March 31st, 2011 by Daniel BearSenior Development Lead, Hulu
This morning we released the latest version of Hulu Plus for Roku. This is a minor update, but we want to notify users of changes as they become available. You should receive the updated channel (v1.9) the next time you launch the Hulu Plus app on Roku, or you can force the update by opening and exiting the Roku Channel Store. Improvements in this version include:
– Improved playback reporting to help our team improve the playback experience.
– UI tweaks to compensate for device overscan.
– Additional improvements and bug fixes.
The Roku team is also in the process of releasing a firmware update (their announcement here) that will resolve a playback issue observed by users who leave the player paused for several minutes or users with very fast network connections.
I was having the same issue–pressing “pause” on the remote (which worked just fine for the Netflix app) would take up to 1/2 an hour to pause the show.
I had no firmware updates to download, but removing and re-installing the Hulu Plus app (restarting in between for good measure) made it work again. Phew!
I was having the exact problem described by everyone here – constant stuttering, completely unwatchable – but following the troubleshooting steps on one of the links listed here I fixed it – completely fixed, absolutely NO skipping. I do t know exactly which setting did it but here is what I changed on my router: changed channel to 11; changed mode to “up to 300 Mbps” ( was on up to 54 before – had to change from WPA-PSK TKIP to WPA2-PSK AES to make this change).
My advise to anyone having these problems would be to scrap the TKIP and switch to AES and switch that bad boy up to the 300 mbps setting. It is amazing how it changed everything!!!
I’m trying the updates but do not have much hope. I expect I will be canceling my subscription shortly. Sad because it is a great concept that is not that great in reality.
I just cancelled my huluplus subscription last night. They offer shows that I would like to watch. If It worked I would use it, but it is slow and then it locks up. Get it together and you might keep your customers.
Out of all of the channels that I have on Roku, Hulu+ is the ONLY channel that freezes to the point that I have to unplug the Roku and restart it. The worst part about that is, Hulu+ is the only channel I pay for. I have done all of the updates and jumped through all of the hoops that Hulu+ asks of you when you have a question. As if it is my fault. Now I do not even get a reply to my Emails when I have a concern? HELP!!! So frustrating!!!
I am disgusted with this service, I can’t even watch a 42minutes show in an hour. It has been over an hour and I have experienced over 6 reload video errors, and freezing every 10 seconds- no exaggeration. Why am I paying for this terrible service subscription when I can’t even watch one ****ing episode!!!
Is there any reason the developers for the Roku app INSIST on having their videos play at a set bitrate? Are we really asking too much to allow the video quality to adjust for bandwidth? You’ve done it on your site since its inception, Netflix does it on their apps and their site. Yet Hulu plus on Roku, and ostensibly PS3 demands that you have at least a consistant 3mb connection. Not possible for me in this area, and many other people. Still, I get decent video from Netflix without constant buffering issues, because the video quality will adjust for my bandwidth when necessary. Please consider this for you next update, otherwise I’ll have to cancel, because it is simply unusable unless i’m on your site.
We have Hulu Plus, and are very frustrated, very.
Everything we try to watch, anytime, day or night. It is taking as long as an hour & a half to watch 45 minutes of a show. Any show.
Why are we paying for this service? Even with other frustrations concerning our netflix, this issue is not amongst them. We do not have the freezing problem except on very rare occasion, a few once or twice a month. With Hulu Plus, we are paying the same as netflix, and it constantly freezes. Please let us know how we can fix this, so we can keep the service. We like the idea of Hulu Plus very much!
Hulu Plus was freezing, see my post below. But I found this bit of help below…
1. Remove the Hulu Plus channel and then re-add it via the Channel Store
2. Ensure that you have the most recent firmware installed on your Roku. Go to Settings > Player Info > Check for Update
I did both of these things and now it’s playing again like it used to. No more freezing! OMG Hard to believe. My firmware was already up to date, so it was Step.1 that helped. Rock on!
We’ve been using Hulu Plus on Roku since January 2011. All of a sudden in the last month it’s been locking up on almost everyone of our shows. It never used to do this, whatever update was made recently is the cause. We are real close to dropping Hulu plus if this does not get fixed soon. I hope you guys are listening!! It’s not my internet connection, I’m streaming at 25mbs. Roku is great, and hulu plus used to work fine. This is bad.
Hulu on Roku crashes the system and requires you to unplug it for a bit then plug it back in. I am on my 2 weeks free, so I can see paying for a service that crashes.
Hulu Plus on the Roku often has problems with the sound / video getting out of sync – usually immediately following commercials. Sometimes this can be fixed by stopping and restarting and sometimes it can’t. Lately, Hulu Plus freezes and I have to unplug the player to exit. Hopefully there will be a fix soon. Hulu Plus is not working more often than it is.
I apologize to those of you who are experiencing streaming issues on your Roku. Our Customer Support Advocates are happy to help you out! Please contact us through our contact form ( http://www.hulu.com/support ) and we will be happy to assist you in troubleshooting the issues you are facing.
Look at all these comments about Hulu via Roku problems — and there is not a single reply from Hulu. What is the deal? Surely Hulu is considering doing something about these problems. Need I add that they are shared by yours truly.
Streaming of Hulu Plus on Ruku 2 is downright horrible. Constant freezes, voice out of sync, and even “skipping” problems of the image…Reviewing the problems listed in nearly 100% of the posts below, it would appear that pretty much EVERYONE is having the same freaking problems…What are your plans to fix this? All other Roku channels are working just fine, this seems to be a Hulu Plus channel/app problem. What are your plans tofix this? All the “fixes” that the support team are recommending below just plain do NOT work at ALL. I’m pretty much sick and tired of this, which has been going on for weeks, if not months…I’m on the very edge of cancelling the service…Your support team better get a move on ans finally fix the damn App!!
I would also like to add myself to the growing list of users that are experiencing problems with Hulu on my Roku. I have a 18down 3up ISP speed. I know it’s not my ISP. I’ve taken the app off and put it back on with no change. I’m wondering if I should just restore the roku and see if that resolves the issue. It’s very frustrating!
Just signed up for Hulu plus. The wife and I spent 20 min. deciding on a show. How about the new Simpsons episode? Nope web only. She made the argument that it’d be worth signing up for to get Fringe episodes. Nope web only. We’ve gone through all the shows we watch regularly and realize that Hulu plus does not equal more content as far as what we would use it for. Same commercials Plus limited content. No thanks. I guess we’ll just keep hooking the laptop to the tv for Hulu and cancel our service.
Streaming Hulu on Roku has become impossible, consist freezing and voice out of sync. This does not occur on any other channel with Roku and does not occur when watching Hulu on the computer. I do not what to cancel, but cannot justify paying for a product that does not function properly.
Everyone… REPEAT Everyone! Has the freezing problem. It is a HULU problem. No other app has this issue. It does not matter what Roku you have. Your Hulu app need to be fixed. You are losing subscribers. FIX IT! C’mon… we give you plenty of money to make the shows play… we put up with ads… we sit through stutters and stops… =FIX IT already.
Same situation. Have Roku XDS, late 2009. Hulu constantly hangs, hiccups, and forces be to reboot the system. Major inconvenience for my monthly payment.
Hello, I have the same problems noted by others here. Hulu constantly hangs, freezes, or crashes my Roku XDS player altogether. I have the latest Roku system software, and have also removed and reinstalled Hulu on the player. Hulu is the only channel with which this problem occurs. I’ve submitted a couple of help requests as well.
I have the same problem. Hulu is the only one of many Roku apps that hangs, freezes, causes my Roku XDS to crash. The ad timer continues to display in shows. I have checked for a Roku update and removed and reinstalled Hulu. First, Hulu would not allow me to set back up, nothing happened when I clicked “Yes” to add my account during initial setup. The next time, I was able to set up my account, but the show froze immediately after your ad played. I have also submitted a help ticket. This non-functioning product is not worth $100 a year.
Hulu plus performance is dismal using my Roku player. Constant freezing, vocals out of sync when returning from one of their limited commercial interruptions, causes the roku player to crash and reboot, no ability to rewind or use other features of the roku remote, Of course none of these problems ever occur during their commercials, just the shows you pay for. The roku player works great on the other channels, it’s only using Hulu Plus that fails miserably.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having issues with our app on your Roku. There are a few troubleshooting steps we can try; can you visit the following page and take a look? http://www.hulu.com/support/article/20196801#roku
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
I seem to be having the some issue as a lot of other users that is freezing up when using HULU pluse. If yo try to pause or fast forward it freezes and even reboots the system. I Can say with out no question no other chanel on my Ruku dose this. I have the Ruku model number 2050x and running Hulu vershion 2.0 that is under help and about in Hulu .I got my week free and paid for the first mouth but if this issue is not fixed at the end of the mouth I have to let you go. In today’s world money should not be wasted on thing that dont’t work.
Hulu application on Roku continually freezing, or pausing while streaming – pauses last for about 7 seconds then resume again. Audio/video out of sync. Countdown timer on adds stays on 45 seconds remaining. Please fix these problems else I will have to cancel my subscription – and yes I have contacted support about this!
Thanks for letting us know. Can you contact us at http://www.hulu.com/support? When you do, please visit http://www.speedtest.net and include your download and upload test results. We’ll be better prepared to help.
I seem to be having the same issue as many others who posted on this website. Hulu Plus freezes up every several minutes on my Roku. I pause the show, wait a couple minutes, and then press the play button again. The show resumes, however it happens again within a couple minutes. Ridiculously frustrating. This is my first month subscribe to Hulu Plus (I did not use Hulu, so this is my first experience), and I am still in my free trial week.
Just wondering, because it seems to be a very, very prevalent complaint…has a solution been found to the Hulu Plus/Roku problem? If so, I would like to know. Otherwise, I would rather not pay $8/mth. for a service that rarely works.
To this day Hulu Plus still freezes on my Roku (I have the newest version with the motion controller.) I reported it, was given a free month which was nice, but the free month is about up (or possibly up already) and the problems still exist. I really really want this to work, but I cant keep paying for something that I spend more time trying to get to work than actually being able to watch.
I am experiencing similiar problems with Hulu+ on my Roku model. The problems are freezing, out of sync audio and the count down time on the ads are often wrong (the video starts up time left on the count down box). This problem doesn’t occur on NetFlix or any of the other channel I am subscribed to–only Hulu+ (very disappointing). I have to reset the box and remove Hulu+ channel then reinstall it to work.
Thanks for your thorough post. I’ve alerted Dan to what you said and sent you an email asking for some followup information. Others with similar information should contact http://hulu.com/support instead of posting on the boards.
We’re trying to gather information from users like yourself who are experiencing stuttering on the Roku. Please contact us at http://www.hulu.com/support as soon as possible so we can use your specifications for our research into the issue.
I’m a relatively new Hulu Plus subscriber via a new Roku XDS. Unlike many, I won’t complain about the content or the commercials – I understand you’re striking the best bargain you can with the studios, who still haven’t woken up to the 21st century.
But the sofware itself is… unpolished. Here’s a laundry list of things that bug me every time I use it:
1. Slow (~1 min) startup from the main Roku menu. Hulu seems to use a different back-end application than most other Roku channels (Amazon, Netflix, etc), so it has to go load itself in multiple stages while I wait – and then again when I load the show. Is that necessary for Hulu’s unskippable-commercial requirement, or is it just a misguided assumption that branding beats usability?
2. Playback unresponsive to the UI. There will be times I want to pause the show, and the UI thread acknowledges me with a play/pause icon, but the video keeps playing.
3. Audio dropouts. This is 100% repeatable; when I watch the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, there’s a momentary audio dropout two or three seconds into the “limited commercial interruptions” segment. Bad OOBE.
4. Cache stalls. Lately, the video AND audio will freeze for 5 to 30 seconds during the show’s opening sequence (the actual show, not the pre-roll commercial). I assume it’s something like “the transfer rate for the show doesn’t meet the expectations set by the transfer rate during the pre-roll, so we weren’t pre-fetching enough.” Is there a way to debug this to give you more info? I have 8-16MBps business-class cable modem with a static IP, with apparently very few people on my cable segment – I rarely see slowdowns. The Roku, streaming 1080p, is connected via 802.11n (2.4G) but reports a link speed of 270Mbps, signal strength 81%. (I could try an Ethernet bridge if you think it matters, but this seems more like a pre-fetching bug; once the signal comes back, it doesn’t appear to drop to a lower-bandwidth signal.)
5. Out-of-sync audio when coming back from commercial. This could be related to #3. Intermittently, with no obvious pattern, when the show comes back from commercial, video will be 0.5 second behind audio. Going back to the show menu and restarting the show from where I left off will fix it. Happens maybe once every two weeks.
6. Sluggish navigation. In the menus, there is a noticeable lag between the time I press the D-pad and the time the outline cursor moves from one selection to the next. On a box fast enough to decode and composite video in real time, that just shouldn’t be the case! It only happens in Hulu’s custom app, not the baseline Roku app on other channels.
7. Defaults, defaults, defaults. If I always go to the queue first, remember that, and make the queue the pre-selected button. Once I’m in the queue, I can guarantee I don’t want to click on the Queue button again; I want to click on the first show in my queue. When I get there, I again don’t want to click on the top menu; I want to click on the first show in that show’s queue! That’s four clicks when you only needed two. And if there’s only one show in the queue in the first place, just show it to me; that’s what I’m there fore! I want my queue to feel like a TiVo, not a hierarchical menu.
What do you think.. any chance of seeing these fixed in an upcoming Hulu release? I’d happily volunteer to beta test.
Hi, I’m having the freezing, stopping problems with hulu plus on my Roku, very similar to what other users have experienced. Often, if I press “pause” on the remote, nothing happens until about a minute later. Then, once it is paused, it takes quite a while before it starts up again. Also, often I can’t make the info boxes disappear. I just reinstated my hulu plus account yesterday, but as it is it’s unusable. Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
@ Pat- couldn’t agree more. If my xbox had a browser, I could watch it? Screw this. I signed up for the free week and was disappointed in 10 minutes. Don’t have the rights to offer stuff on xbox yet? Whaaah. Call me when you do. In the mean time it feels like a bait and switch. Imagine going into McDonalds, with posters all over of all their food, and they say “Most of that is only available in the city. We do have fries and milk though! And our goal is to one day be able to provide hambergurs and other food you see on the menu.” Would you ever go their again? Nope.
The hulu channel on the roku is very disappointing. Any attempts to pause or scan through videos typically leads to freezing/resets. If they don’t get their act together and get a reliable channel going I may have to cancel my subscription. The only thing that has stopped me from doing so already is the number of streaming anime they have that Netflix doesn’t.
I am having the same problem as others with Hulu Plus freezing every few seconds. I have Cox high Speed Internet. Amazon and Netflix work fine.
The worst part now is that I can’t get out of Hulu Plus to watch anything else on Roku. What happened to the Roku Player? It is as if Hulu Plus hijacked the Roku Player and it is verynirritating to eatch something that freezes up every 3 seconds. Is there a fix for this?
I am having issues with the new Roku model. Seems to be primarily Hulu Plus…shows freeze then machine resets. Not an issue with Netflix. Sometimes the shows just freeze and we have to power down the unit and restart it as everything becomes nonresponsive. Roku customer services seemed to think it was a hulu problem.
Hulu plus continues to loose audio and the video freezes om ROKU!. Reboots, stopping starting, resetting the Roku very frustrating and is NOT the way to enjoy any show. We have a fast COX Cable connection.
This is horrible!, 90% Of all shows are “Web Only” Not only am I not signing up for this.. but I have already watched everything im interested in that they have available and its only the 2nd day of my free week trial.. Horrible service, waste of money, rott in hell
I love Hulu BUT have problems with Hulu Plus freezing up when used through my Roku unit. I had to cancel my subscription — TWICE. Is this a Hulu Plus problem or a Roku problem? Please help because I want to have Hulu Plus!!!! p.s. No problems with Netflix streaming and my Roku unit.
My husband and I love the roku hulu plus interface but we’re extremely disappointed in the availbility of programs versus the web only programs. Can’t wait to see more of them cross over.
So I am new to Hulu Plus with the Roku box and am enjoying it very much. However, why is it that I have access to more stuff on Hulu on my computer? It would seem that Hulu Plus would have all that Hulu has. Why can’t I stream Hulu (CBS stuff) on the Roku? Thanks for a great product.
It was a UX mistake to add “web only” shows into Roku’s Hulu Plus queue. For those of us who use Hulu extensively, both free and paid, the user interface just became a nightmare to navigate. Please remove, move, or provide the option to hide “web only” shows. Why should my queue be stuffed full of entries that it won’t allow me to view?
The new update has added the shows that were web only from my queue onto my Roku interface. This makes the queue screen very tedious to scroll through as I have 56 shows on it. If they are unavailable for Roku streaming they should not be listed.
ive been having streaming issues with hulu plus on my roku. trying to get this update but i opened and closed the channel store and did not see any updates. is there a way to check the version of hulu plus on the roku? Please help, love my roku but hulu plus is not working too well…
I just wanted to say that the combination of your channel update and the new Roku firmware has turned my Hulu Plus experience from extremely laggy and frustrating to snappy and enjoyable. Thank you.
Please add (a working version of) hulu plus to the BD640!!
When do you think Hulu Plus will be available on LG550?
Same problems here. We were excited to try Hulu plus on our LG BD670 blu-ray and found it won’t load. We’ll be canceling our subscription before the free trial is even over! Very disappointed as this is my first experience with Hulu.
I would also like to request hulu plus on blu ray LG 550 model, please! I was misinformed that it would be available to this model before now.
Please add LG BD-570! I would like to subscribe as soon as it’s available.
I have the blu ray BD550 and I’m wondering if you will be adding the hulu app to my model?
Hi Mark,
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having while trying to watch on your Blu-ray player. If it’s not too much more trouble, can you drop us a line at (www.hulu.com/support) with more details about the issues you’re seeing?
Thanks,
Tim

I purchased a BD670 with HuluPlus 1 week ago. Hulu often (80-90% of the time) gets stuck on “loading” a TV show and will not play. Also if you browse TV episodes too much the system will hang. You probably have a memory leak in your app. Netflix works fine.
Please get rights for hulu on bd550. Thank you!
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for posting.

Those are on our radar, Steve. We’re definitely working on it.
Thanks,
Brad

Add to LG Netcast!!
I am irritated that my 1 year old TV that I paid extra money for just so it had the built in features such as Netflix and Vudu seems to be cast aside for their new Smart TV. Certainly Hulu Plus can be added to the NetCast TVs.
LG BD 570!!!!! PLEASE!
Hulu,
I have signed up for Hulu Plus and watch it through my computer. However, I would love to be able to watch it through my LG BluRay player. The model is BD640 and was manufactured January 2011. Do you know of any plans to add those devices to be able to stream your content?
Thanks,
Ozzie
Dear hulu
PLEASE PLEASE ADD YOUR SUPPORT TO THE POPULAR LG BLURAY PLAYERS!!!
Many potential customers have waited a long time. Don’t lose them!
Hulu is really killing themselves. I can not use my $400 LG to get Hulu?
Stupid! Most people I know can not get the service.
How do you expect to get customers if no one can get to your service?
Jay,
Thanks for your email, and thanks for your interest in Hulu Plus! I’m afraid I haven’t any specifics to offer regarding timeframes or upcoming models. Of course, we want to support as many devices as possible and I hope we can offer you support on these devices soon!
Thanks,
Daniel

So any idea when we can see it for the BD550 and BD570?
Hi Clarisa,
I’m sorry that we don’t offer support for your your LG Blu-ray BD570 just yet.
Thanks,
Tim T.

Yesterday I subscribed to Hulu Plus hoping to watch it through my Bluray LG BD570, which works amazingly with Netflix and Youtube.
You do not support the BD570 yet? I’m sorry, I am canceling my subscription now.
Please add Hulu to Netcast! Hulu is good on the computer, but would be fabulous on big screen 60LD550!
PLEASE ADD SUPPORT FOR THE BD570!!!
Hulu….add support for LG BG570. Don’t be jerks like Netflix.
Need Hulu Plus on LG-BD570. Folks are not going to buy a new $200 player just to get Hulu Plus. You are missing out on a big set of customers who have bought into the LG 500 series and can be potential customers. Streaming is going to take over blu-ray rentals…
http://hpavs.com/mydigitalhome/index.php/2011/06/is-video-streaming-killing-blu-ray-disc-sales/
Hey Brent,
I’m sorry for the trouble our application’s giving you.

Hey Shane, Sean, and M,
It’s true, we don’t have any plans to support 2010 models at this time, but we’re always evaluating what devices we can get on. The technological and licensing aspects of supporting models are complex and in this case we weren’t able to support those older models at this time, but that doesn’t mean things couldn’t change in the future.
I’m very sorry for the disappointment.
Thanks,
James

LG recently posted an update for the BD570. I was sure it would be for HULU-Plus. Sadly it was not. I could not see what the update was for. Can we expect HULU on the next update?
Please add Hulu to the LG BD570 blu-ray player.
is Hulu plus available for streaming on the LGBD570 blu-ray player? It does not state any devices specifically
I have two LG Blu-ray players and would subscribe to your service if I could use it on them… any news on updates? A schedule for rolling out to BD players?
Pretty much really upset with Hulu, got an email saying they pretty much dont intend to support last years LG Blu-Ray models even though they are netcast equipped, and vudu, divxtv , netflix, all made it work?? whats the deal.
want hulu on lg bd550
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your post. Unfortunately I don’t have a list of the supported Blu-Ray models at this time, but I’ll work on getting that live as soon as we can.
Thanks,
James

I was wondering if LG BD570 will be able to support hulu plus?
Hi Kayvan,
The LG 47LE5400 won’t be supported at launch, but we’d like to support as many devices as possible, so there’s always a possibility it will be added at a later date.
Thanks,
James

Will support be added for LG 47LE5400 TV’s?
Hey, I have an LG BD670 blu ray player where the Hulu Plus icon newly shows but doesn’t work. I realize that this is probably an LG thing, but PLEASE HELP!!!
I just bought aLG-ST600 SmartTV Upgrader in hopes of watching HuluPlus rather than Netflix only to find Flashplayer 10.03 is required and Hulu content can’t be watched. I, like Keith, would like to know ifLG-ST600 SmartTV Upgrader be supported in the near future.
How about getting your service working properly on PS3 devices before expanding into other devices??
Will the LG-ST600 SmartTV Upgrader be supported as well?
Only thing keeping from ditching cable is that it is not available on the Tab 10.1. I know several people in the same boat that already use Hulu for free and would gladly upgrade to get it on their Honeycomb tablets as well.
Come on Hulu – help us out and get with the program!!
Thank you!!!!
