These kids have been busy since high school.
Ah, the age of adolescence. Many of us remember that time in our lives when we felt constant angst, raging hormones, and awkwardness – because let’s be honest, braces aren’t a good look for anyone. Yet, no one carried their teen years more gracefully than the cast of Dawson’s Creek. With their luscious locks, big dreams, and romantic gestures, their “awkward” years were weathered with gusto. Sure, they had their fair share of love triangles and ugly cries (Dawson, we’re looking at you), but with the power combo of Katie Holmes’ budding fierceness and that bucolic setting of small town North Carolina, the close-knit bunch took the world by storm. Complete with the best late 90s soundtrack, like ever, it’s obvious why this series was a teen sensation.
Fast forward to the present, and we wonder, where are the stars of Dawson’s Creek now? They had some pretty good acting chops as teens. Did they keep it up? That’s the million-dollar question, let’s find out!
Katie Holmes as Joey Potter
Katie Holmes may be best known for her portrayal of Joey on Dawson’s Creek, and while fans will never forget her as the girl climbing up a ladder into Dawson’s bedroom, platonically sharing his bed and analyzing life, she has come a long way since her Capeside days. With countless blockbusters under her belt like Batman Begins and Phone Booth, guest roles on prominent shows like How I Met Your Mother and Ray Donovan, a stint on Broadway, certified fashion mogul, and mom, this triple threat is now a force to be reckoned with and has continued breaking hearts since 1998.
Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley
The troubled girl-next door, Jen, portrayed by none other than Michelle Williams, stepped out of a cab into our lives on Season 1, Episode 1 of Dawson’s Creek and never left. Shutter Island, Brokeback Mountain, My Week with Marilyn, and the list of acting accomplishments goes on. Multiple Oscar noms, a Golden Globe, and Tony Award later and we’re still invested in the “City Girl.”
James Van Der Beek as Dawson Leery
To know Dawson Leery is to know his love for cinema, and it’s safe to say that teenage Dawson would be pretty happy with James Van Der Beek’s film track record. Though we will forever think of him as the starry-eyed soulmate of Joey’s, James went on to play more adult roles in movies like Varsity Blues, The Rules of Attraction, and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt 23 where he really stretched his acting chops to play a version of… himself! James is now happily married with four kids. At least we’ll always have the meme, ugly cry game strong.
Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter
Who could forget teen heartthrob, Pacey Witter played by Joshua Jackson, whose tender heart and good looks recruited many fans for Team Pacey. Years and a few acts of chivalry later (ask us to stay, Pacey!) and Joshua Jackson has paved his own way in Hollywood with hits like Cruel Intentions, Fringe, The Affair, and one of the greatest trilogies of our time, The Mighty Ducks. An added bonus – he’s recently single! Any Team Pacey players still out there?
