Hulu Summer Road Trip: ‘Saved by the Bell’ & ‘Flashdance’

August 11th, 2016 by Hulu Editors

Get out your scrunchies and leg warmers, we’re dancing tonight!

It’s an undisputed fact that the ’80s was an awesome decade … to glamorize and ironically celebrate in a group setting. The styles were outrageous, the cell phones were enormous, and the TV and movies were iconic. Because of all these reasons (but mostly that last one), we’re doing a throwback double-whammy with an outdoor screening of “Saved by the Bell” and “Flashdance.”

But with five seasons at Bayside High plus three spin-off seasons (College Years, Hawaiian Style, Wedding in Las Vegas), the hard question was: which SBTB episode do we screen? A quick office poll lead to a pretty resounding answer:

Serious research at Hulu HQ

So ‘Jesse’s Song‘ it was! Which, given the hot dance moves of Hot Sundae (the girls’ music group), turned out to be the perfect segue into our feature movie, ‘Flashdance,’ the iconic dance movie about a steel mill worker by day, exotic dancer by night, with dreams of dancing in the spotlight, and subsequently inspired dozens of young girls and boys of a certain generation to sign up for dance classes immediately after viewing.

But watching isn’t the only thing you’ll be doing. We’ll have some of L.A.’s best eats from food from trucks such as Boba Ni Taco, Currywurst, The Grilled Cheese Truck, Ragin’ Cajun, Son of a Bun, Street Kitchen LA, Ta Bom Brazilian Truck, Tokyo Doggie Style, Urban Espresso & more. And come early to jam out to your favorite ’80s tunes by the cover band Jet West.

Plus, the first 200 attendees will get a limited edition Saved by the Bell/Flashdance art print created just for the occasion, the first 50 people who sign up for a Hulu account on-site will get a uber-comfy Hulu blanket**, and everyone will be walking away with a Hulu fanny pack (!!) and a 30-day trial subscription so you can go back and watch every other SBTB episode ever (The College Years really hold up).
