Earlier today, I sent the following email to the Hulu team.
I’m happy to introduce you all to Tim Connolly, who joins the Hulu team today as Head of Distribution.
A big part of realizing Hulu’s objectives is our platform strategy—our goal is to be everywhere, on every device where our users want to watch TV. Roughly half of our 5 million Hulu Plus subscribers are now streaming exclusively on devices, with living room viewing accounting for over half of all content consumption on the service.
Finding ways to penetrate new distribution channels is key to our future growth. Tim’s wealth of experience and passion for Hulu will be instrumental as we continue to grow our subscriber base and roll out Hulu Plus across even more devices and with more distribution partners.
For the past seven years, Tim has served as VP of Digital Video Distribution and New Product Development for The Walt Disney Company. There he led the company’s digital product distribution efforts across Disney’s many television properties including ESPN, ABC Family, ABC and Disney Channel, and helped advance the company’s TV Everywhere and video-on-demand strategy. Prior to that, Tim was at Ericsson for seven years where he spent time in various functions ranging from product management to business development. (And don’t forget to ask Tim about his start-up experience launching Cool Beans Coffee—among his many talents, I’m sure he makes a mean cup-of-Joe).
I am excited about the world-class talent we’ve had join the team in these past few weeks. Hulu is attracting the “best of the best” with the desire to help us build something great. This speaks volumes to the incredible product you all have created and the amazing talent that is already here at Hulu.
