Online Privacy

August 5th, 2011 by Richard Tom VP, Platform Technology

Our mission is to delight our customers; that means great content and the best possible user experience we can deliver. So when we heard this past Friday about questions concerning online privacy, we reacted immediately. I’d like to give an update for our users.

A research study on online privacy that was published this past Friday focused on 100 of the most trafficked websites, including Hulu. Upon reading the research report, we acted immediately to investigate and address the issues identified. This included suspending our use of the services of the outside vendor mentioned in the study.

Please know that we take the above very seriously. We also recognize that it is incumbent on us to earn the trust of our users each and every day (as we have these past four years) and we will be tireless in doing just that going forward.

I am very disappointed with the fact that you took this action only after is was made public that your user tracking facility was somewhat questionable and in my opinion unethical. In this case you simply got caught.
