Hulu Plus Begins Rollout on Select LG Devices

July 5th, 2011 by Jonathan Au Product Manager

Today, we are happy to announce that the Hulu Plus subscription service is available on select LG LCD TVs. The team here is particularly excited about this launch because we have added support for the innovative LG Magic Motion remote. Now you can control the Hulu Plus application with a simple point-and-click. We are going to be launching Hulu Plus on other LG devices in the coming weeks, so be sure to check out our devices page to stay up to date.

Enjoy!

love Hulu Plus, but it absolutely sucks on LG smart TVs. I have two, less than 1 year old. When watching from my queue – I can typically watch about 2 shows, then a message that “the show is not available” and or a red screen saying that hulu has crashed.

From there, I must POWER CYCLE the TV, then, when I go back to Hulu – my login info is gone! Time, after time, after time, after time, after time, after time,

    absolutley sucks

my wifi is rock solid, and I never get logged out from any of my other numerous devices.

  • Hi Andi,
Sorry for the trouble! What device do you use to stream? What happens when you try to watch a video? Can you unplug your device and the modem/router for one full minute, then try streaming again? If you’re still having trouble, go to ( http://www.speedtest.net ) on your computer and let me know the Download speed in Mbps and the PING speed in Ms.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Ever since you upgradged on my device today I have had streaming issues. Didn’t have a problem all day until this upgrade. What’s up with that?

  • Hi Morgan, thanks for posting. While I don’t have any news to share about devices that will become supported in the future, and can confirm that the LG LE478500 is currently not supported by Hulu Plus. The best way to check if a device is supported (especially when it’s not explicitly listed on our site) is to see if the app is pre-loaded on your Smart TV. If the latest firmware update has been installed on your TV and the app is not showing automatically, that is a good indicator that the specific model in question is not supported. I hope this helps!
