Some People Are Just Born Criminals

June 20th, 2011 by Alex Kruglov Content Acquisition

I watch a lot of TV. Yes, it’s my job, but I genuinely love the medium that draws us in week after week, delighting fans with unexpected story twists, character growth, and laughter. But every once in a while a show comes along that’s like nothing people had seen before. It happened when I first watched The X-Files all those years ago. And again with South Park. And again with 30 Rock. There’s lots of great TV, but these series are so unexpected, so different, so groundbreaking, that audiences just can’t help but get addicted.

When I watched the first two episodes of Misfits, I knew it is one of those shows. I jumped out of my seat and ran around the office like a crazy person asking everyone I saw to watch it. They all agreed. A huge hit in the UK and the winner of the 2010 BAFTA award for best drama, it’s not similar to anything that came before it. So I’m thrilled to announce that Misfits premieres today exclusively on Hulu and the Hulu Plus subscription service. The first two episodes are available now and new ones will be added each Monday.

Fans of shows like Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly will love Misfits, a show about five unruly teenagers forced to do community service as payback for their crimes. But when a freak electrical storm hits their town, strange things begin to happen to them. In fact, they have no idea that they’ve actually turned into superheroes, each with a power, a power they didn’t choose or want — a power that reveals each of their deepest, darkest insecurities. When I say “superheroes,” I don’t mean the do-gooder types. Indeed, our five heroes remain the same, messed-up Misfits they have always been, but the insanity of their day-to-day lives has become super-charged.

I truly hope you enjoy the new addition to our service as much as we all do. Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming weeks!
