We’ve known for a few months that Will Ferrell will be joining the Dunder-Mifflin staff for at least a four-episode run. But this promo seems very, um, permanent, doesn’t it?
Not convinced that a slapdash sentence from NBC’s ad team is sufficient proof that Ferell is sticking around? Check out this quote from the Huffington Post about his character:
“My character’s name is Deangelo Vickers, he loves the American Southwest, and he’s just kind of in his own way going to step into Michael Scott’s shoes and try to fill them.”
Seems awfully fleshed out, this character, for someone who is a temp boss. (Also, someone is going to have to explain to me how there can be a temp boss. Preferably with lots of charts.)
Anyways, we’re only doing the full-on, 60 Minutes investigation here because we really want this to happen. We want this show to have the most graceful second act in the history of sitcoms. We want it to be one of those shows like The Price is Right that’s always on and you still get genuinely excited when Plinko comes on and confuses everyone. (Plinko in this case is Creed Bratton.)
We think Will Ferrell can be that. His character’s name is Deangelo Vickers, for God’s sake. We already laughed at that, and he hasn’t even started yet.
