In the wake of the devastation in Japan following last week’s earthquake and tsunami, the Hulu team immediately wanted to know ways that we could help. Earlier this week, we posted ways individuals can donate to the relief efforts, and today, we’re announcing that — with the help of our users — Hulu will be donating $50,000 in revenue that we earn from programming across our Japanese content. The donation will come from our share of revenue and will go to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.
To help spread the word, Hulu is also allocating $200,000 in ad inventory, effective immediately, to public service announcements (PSAs) for organizations directly linked to tsunami and earthquake aid efforts. If you are a 501c3 with a broadcast-quality PSA, and are contributing to the relief efforts in Japan, please contact us so we can consider your PSA for our rotation.
