Fresh Imports

May 8th, 2009 by Rebecca Harper Editor

Hulu is having a British invasion of sorts. Our partners at Digital Rights Group are now bringing award-winning comedies like Green Wing and Peep Show, as well a pair of dramas that (coincidentally) take place in small towns: Kingdom and Doc Martin.

Green Wing has been compared to Scrubs thanks to its narcissistic, neurotic hospital staff, but this version is full of British humor, sex jokes and all.

Meanwhile, Kingdom features Stephen Fry (Black Adder) as a big-city solicitor who’s moved his practice to a small English village, where he provides legal advice to the town’s oddballs. (Bones fans may also remember Fry from his turn as Dr. Gordon Wyatt, Booth and Brennan’s therapist, in several episodes, including this season’s “Mayhem on a Cross.”)

In addition to the new shows from DRG, we’ve also teamed up with Saavn to offer films from India. We start off with five titles, including the drama Sarkar — no singing in this one; it’s an homage to The Godfather — as well as classic Bollywood films Deewana, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Hera Pheri and Huluchul.

We’re thrilled to welcome this diverse selection of videos to the Hulu service and have even more international titles lined up for the future. Check the site often for more updates.
