And the Winners Are…

March 12th, 2009 by Rebecca Harper Editor

To celebrate Hulu’s one-year anniversary, we picked our favorite videos in a variety of categories and asked you to vote for your favorites. The winners are revealed on our Hulu Awards spotlight page, where you can see which clips cleaned up. Some categories were nearly too close to call, but others — “Shows we’d bring back,” anyone? — were determined in a landslide vote.

Your pick for the clip that keeps on giving wasn’t a surprise to me: It was one of my personal favorites, too. It’s The Office at its finest, a slow build that culminates in chaos, with each star displaying the character quirks we’ve all come to know and love.

Winner: Clips that will have us laughing in 15 years:

In the “Shows we’d bring back” category, I was expecting a close race between the critically acclaimed Arrested Development and fan-favorite Firefly. In the end, though, it’s no surprise Joss Whedon’s short-lived, futuristic space Western won the race in a landslide, given how fervent Whedon’s fans are.

Along the same lines, a close look at some Notable Trends brought another Whedon creation, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog to the top of our “Most Embedded” list, followed by the Presidential Inauguration and a string of SNL clips, including many of the political sketches that made the series a watercooler topic.

You can check out the other award winners and more notable trends from the Hulu Awards page, where you can watch the user favorites and click through to our chart-topping videos.

Thanks for voting, and thanks again to all our fans for making Hulu’s first year a lot of fun.
