Sharing is good

April 9th, 2008 by Eric Feng

It’s been three weeks now since Hulu.com came out of private beta, and we hope you’ve been having fun with the service so far. We’ve been excited to welcome new users to our site, but we’re just as excited to see Hulu videos popping up on other corners of the web. We know you spread your time online across a wide range of sites, and we want to make it easy to enjoy and share Hulu videos wherever you happen to be on the web.

Since the very beginning, we’ve allowed users to e-mail and embed videos. We’ve recently added the ability to share videos to some of the top social networking and bookmarking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Digg. To do this, just click the Share button inside the video player when watching any video and then click the button for the site you’d like to post to.

We’ve also updated our RSS feeds to allow you to include Hulu embedded videos directly in the feed as an enclosure. That way, you can watch Hulu videos from within the comforts of your RSS news reader. To include Hulu embedded videos in an RSS feed, visit the RSS Feeds page and select the “add video” checkbox before adding the feed to your RSS reader.

Let us know what you think of these features at and remember: sharing is good!

Yeah, what’s going on with the enclosures in the RSS feeds? They are completely missing.

  • Ian Hartten says:

Why has Hulu removed the enclosure tag on the RSS feed? Anyone know what is happening with this?

  • robert potts says:

Why is it everytime I log on to hulu .com I`ll watch a
program for about 15 min. it shuts off my cpu?

  • yeah! i’d like every site to have such button! it’would be much more easier for i-net users to share views… great idea

I am quite a bit older than your average viewer, however there are millions of us. We do not like these slapstick and silly and unrealistic movies. We probably did when we were younger, but I remember nothing like the mindless stuff that will reduce your IQ.

Also your presentation mostly leaves you with looking at a string of names only. You would do well to emulate Netflix Instant movies. You know what you get, with deep reviews, instantly..

I am in the minority so I doubt If I ever will be satisfied with your sparse selection of quality films. I don’t think you get it.

  • Aaron says:

This is really killer. You guys are doing a fantastic job.

  • Krish says:

I love all the features though i would litterly die for this website if u got the show Supernatural jk

  • Bob says:

This is a great site, but when will hooks be availble through Vista MCE and Linksys Media Center Extenders?

  • Larry says:

Love the website…i click thru for hours! Love all the SNL and 30 rock and Office content..keep it up!

  • Josue says:

Great site. one thing on my wish list is to be able to view my fav show on my Zune. Any chance?

  • Jae says:

Hulu is pretty cool, but I’ve got to comment on your inclusions of Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock: it’s too much. The former hasn’t been funny since the 80s and, though I’ve never seen the latter, I despise Tina Fey –least funny woman – ever. But, they seem to be your go-to programs as far as volume. How about a little Kolshak: Nightstalker instead?

  • trav says:

So I tried to post a clip of Arrested Development on Facebook and the entire episode gets embedded. I’m putting my in and out sliders where I want to start and finish the clip. What am I doing wrong?

  • Christian K says:

Nice, but rather useless when most of the episode you would want to clip aren’t available. Where are the current episodes?

  • Matt says:

Ok now HULU needs to share the love to video console owners .And it seems the Wii is the most accessible to content distributors.

If the BBC can do a deal with Nintendo in the UK Im sure HULU can do a deal with Nintendo North America or develop for the Wii Internet Channel at the least .

  • Pierre says:

    I love Hulu’s service.

But, I have to say the embedding feature is pretty hit or miss.

A lot of the shows, like The Riches for example, show a message that says ‘This video does not allow embedding’ AFTER you have attempted to embed it on a page.

So, all it shows is a black box and that message instead of the video.

These are great features. Thanks For Creating This Website. You guys should create banners or something so that we can promote this site. Thanks again.
